Again, it's a little hard for me to interpret the clarity of the story when I know a few things. It did take me a couple readings to make the connections in both the text and the images.
I first had that "making the reader work a bit" experience with Frank Miller's Ronin, and I if it were me I probably would have used Franklike alternating location shots between the (nursing home?) and the drive-in, instead of pure parallel storytelling, for intro/establishing material. But then, I'm not that daring. This is much more evocative, as long as people follow it.
The coming storm as a, um, metaphor is effectively foreboding!
