Leland Purvis has a B.A. in Ancient History, which was earned so long ago as to become a part of its subject matter. He has lived in L.A., Beriln, New York City, and finally returned home to Portland, Oregon. He received a Xeric Grant for his self-published anthology VÓX. PUBO was a limited, creator-owned series published through Dark Horse Comics. His works have been published by Simon & Schuster, Roaring BrookPress/ MacMillan and GT-Labs, focussing largely on historical fiction aimed at younger readers.
Purvis is a founding member of Deep-Six studios in Brookln, NY, and of the ACT-I-VATE webcomics collective. He is self-taught as a writer and artist, sharply and deeply opinionated but has learned to avoid starting fistfights as they tend to get in the way of stories, art, and amiable social drinking.
